In Washington DC we are blessed with a number of parks and trails. My favorite trial is a 18 mile trail that runs along the Potomac river and it is called the Mount Vernon Trail. A year back I had started running in the trail during the winter months and greatly enjoyed the experience. As my cycling season draws to a close, I decided to record my experience.
I started in the seven mile marker near Belle Haven Park
I was headed towards Mount Vernon. The scenery speaks for itself.
Finally I arrived at the end of the Mount Vernon trail after a few climbs. This is start of the trail (Mile Marker 0)/
I then proceeded to go in the opposite side and stopped briefly near the 1 mile marker.
A little later I returned to my starting point near the Belle Haven Park and proceeded towards Alexandria.
I then proceeded further in the trail and..
passed by Gravelly point
Finally I reached the end of the trail near the Theodore Roosevelt Island.
